A Glance Back

Forty years ago this week I was in London on leave from my army station in Germany. The Israeli/Egyptian Six Day started as I arrived and ended before I left London.

I saw the queen in a parade; she looked majestic and a little like a young Helen Mirren.

And I purchased the Beatles masterpiece, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band (on vinyl on the Parlophone label). No one was quite prepared for that one.

And now, coincidently, Paul McCartney who wrote and sang When I’m Sixty-four on the album is sixty-four and has this week released a new album whose recurring theme is memory.
