Bicycle Loop

Sunday morning, 6:30 AM

I hop on my trusty Fuji bike and head south from the Barnes and Noble in Bethesda on the Capital Crescent Trail.

The trail skirts the District of Columbia until the Dalecarlia Reservoir.

The trail crosses the Arizona Avenue Trestle and gradually comes up along side the C&O Canal.
This is the Abner Cloud house, the oldest dwelling on the the C&O Canal.

Fletcher's Boat House is nearby.

And the blue heron is a common sight in this area.

A really beautiful stretch of the trail then follows the Potomac River, past the Three Sisters Islands, into Georgetown.

Along the Georgetown waterfront.

The Capital Crescent Trail ends in Georgetown, but it's easy to catch the Rock Creek path north through the beautiful Rock Creek Park.

The Meadowbrook Stables in Silver Spring, MD

From the Stables, the trail runs into the Georgetown Branch Trail which leads back to Bethesda. It's a nice 2 1/2 hour ride (21.4 miles).
